LegalYour information
Privacy notice
What we keep, why we keep it, and what you can ask us to do. Short and plain.
Last updated 28 October 2026
01What we collect
Only what you choose to send us
We collect:
- The first name and email address you send us when you join.
- Anything you choose to tell us in emails, or on our live calls, including your questions.
When you join, you send us an email from your own email app. That message travels through your email provider in the usual way, like any other email you send.
02Why we use it
To send you what you asked for
We use your details to:
- Send you The Townie’s Guide to Country Life and the First-Week Country Manners Checklist.
- Send you the ACORN emails and invitations to the monthly live call.
- Answer your questions.
If we record a call and send out the recording, your voice or questions may be in it. Tell us before the call if you would rather they weren’t, and send your question by email instead.
03Lawful basis
You said yes, and you can say no
We use your details because you have given your consent, by sending us your name and email address to join. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Just tell us, and we’ll stop.
04Sharing
We never sell or share your email
We never sell your email address, and we never share it. It is used only to do the things listed above.
05Storage
Where your details are kept
For now, your details are kept in our email account. If we move to an email service later, we’ll update this page and tell you.
06Time
How long we keep it
We keep your details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, whichever comes first.
07Your rights
What you can ask us to do
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you (access).
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your information.
- Object to how we use it.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To use any of these rights, email askthebumpkin@gmail.com. We’d be glad of the chance to put things right first, but you don’t have to come to us before the ICO.
08Cookies and fonts
No tracking cookies
This site sets no tracking cookies.
The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts. That means Google may see your IP address when the page loads. We don’t control that, and you can read how Google handles it in its own privacy policy.
09Contact
Contact, and changes to this notice
Questions or requests about your information go to askthebumpkin@gmail.com.
If we change how we use your details, we’ll update this page and its date.
Not sure about something? Email askthebumpkin@gmail.com and ask. No question is too daft.
